Senior Trip: The Best in Years

By Bryton Caviness

The senior trip has been around for decades. Some years are better than others.  Though usually they are good more often than not.

This year the senior trip is to Disneyland and Universal studios in a 10 hour van ride from Middletown to LA.  This trip should be one of the better ones and Disneyland is usually a favorite one.

Previous years the Senior classes have gone to all different locations one of which being a water park last year.  Last year the class gave mixed reviews. It was very brief unlike some previous ones. It was one day not the normal 2 full days and 2 travel days like we got.  Most of the class didn't go either since it was just a simple water park and it seemed like a waste of time.

Going into the senior trip I knew ours was going to be fun since my grandma got to do a similar senior trip doing the grad night at Disneyland.  She said, “It was so much fun and it's one of my favorite school memories.”

The trip started off very well. We got into the vans and the ride was not bad at all. We made a bunch of stops and it felt like it went by quickly.  The hotel we stayed in was very close to Disneyland so the walk was short.  We spent the first night going to downtown Disney and exploring.  We also got a bunch of pizzas ordered for everyone and we ate at the hotel, one of my roommates took a whole pizza back to our room.

The next day we got the whole day to go to Disneyland and California adventure.  We spent the day riding rides, exploring, and doing a bunch of fun stuff. We came back to the hotels for a quick break then we went back to Disneyland only and did all the stuff we wanted to do in only until 12:00 then we had to go California adventure for grad night where the park stayed open until 2 am for senior classes.

Grad night was a lot different than I was expecting there were definitely a lot less people but still enough to have a decent wait in lines.  It was a lot of fun, still we got to do a bunch of rides and watch a light show which was pretty cool.  Grad night went by way faster than I was expecting but that whole day was a blast.

We went to bed and we had to wake up early for Universal studios. Universal was fun, I got my water bottle stolen and it was extremely hot like a frying pan.  I was pretty tired that whole day and was happy to get back to the vans. Some of the girls wanted to have done a hike to the Hollywood sign instead and then go back since we paid for a full day at Universal and we didn't even go for a full day.

I think the Hollywood sign hike would've been better in my opinion  but we still had a lot of fun.  Overall I’d say that I had a blast on this trip and I highly recommend Disneyland grad night as a senior trip for all classes.
