May 6th, 2026 marks the debut episode of CBS correspondent Anthony Mason’s interview based YouTube talk-show: “Alchemy” –which serves as more personal and emotional expansion of his current occupation as a news anchor for “CBS This Morning.”
In this pilot episode he chose to invite his favorite musician, Hozier, to be his inaugural guest; and subsequently the victim of his very interpersonal and soul-searching style of interview. “My heart was just torn open” Says Hozier.
Anthony Mason’s aim with the talk show is to have generously long and quite intimate conversations with various popular artists; creating a sort of interview that breaks into artists' minds considerably harder than others.
With Irish singer-songwriter Hozier, Anthony takes the reins on that promise with many interpersonal questions aimed to reveal the details of Hozier’s early life; his relationships with parents and peers; and ultimately his relationship with music as a whole.
The primary goal was to understand what artistic influences were behind the construction of who we know as “Hozier,” he initially gave his own observations on Hozier’s past as the child of a painter and a blues musician in County Wicklow, Ireland, wanting insight on how growing up with art and music reflects on one’s being, and how he personally interacted with that in his childhood.
Anthony also touched on many of Hozier’s opinions on various interpersonal connections with other artists; such as Noah Kahan.
