Improving your life starts with you and your eating habits

Written by Kai Miglio

In the United States, most things go down at some point. Inflation goes down, housing prices go down, cost of food goes down…but the one thing that never goes down is obesity rates. The United States adult obesity rate is at an all time high of 42.4%. More than 2 out of every 5 people is obese.

Are you unhappy with your weight? Want to gain or lose weight? Eating healthy, diet plans, and discipline will get you your dream physique - and it isn't as hard as you think.

5 Main Reasons to Eat Healthy

Here are the 5 main reasons that will remind you why eating healthy is the best thing you can do for yourself.

  • Weight Loss

  • Reduced Cancer/Disease Risk

  • Better Mood

  • Getting Better Sleep

  • Improved Memory

I Want To Eat Healthy, But I Don’t Know WHAT To Eat!

A healthy diet has a combination of different foods, including:

  • Grain (wheat, barley, rye, maize, or rice) or starchy tubers/roots (potato, yam, taro or cassava)

  • Legumes (lentils and beans)

  • Fruits and vegetables

  • Foods from animal sources (fish, chicken, egg, milk)

Tips From the EXPERTS

1. Prepare most of your meals at home using whole foods; avoid processed foods. Choose from a variety of different proteins to keep things interesting.

“Long term consumption of other fats, like trans fats and processed saturated fats may compromise brain health.” According to TED-ed

2. Make an eating plan each week - this is the key to fast, easy meal preparation.

3.Choose recipes with plenty of vegetables and fruit - like this one. Your goal is to fill half your plate with vegetables and fruit at every meal. Frozen or canned fruits and veggies are an alternative to fresh produce.

4. Avoid sugary drinks and instead drink water. Keep a reusable water bottle in your purse or car so you can fill up wherever you are going. Your future wife will thank you.

5. Eat smaller meals more often. Eat at least 3 meals per day with snacks in between.

Embracing a healthy eating lifestyle is a shift towards living a better life. With obesity rates at an all time high in the United States, the urgency to prioritize health has never been greater. By focusing on balanced nutrition and following suggestions, you can significantly improve your weight, reduce the risk of developing diseases, and enhance your overall well being.

The journey to a better you is not about quick, drastic changes overnight, but about consistent tiny steps in the right direction. This helps in the long haul.
