Elden Ring Nightreign, the spin off of Elden Ring, is an action adventure multiplayer roguelite DLC. The Forsaken Hollows just released December 2025. It introduces 2 new Nightfarers and 2 new Nightlords, drastically scaling up in difficulty from the base game. It also introduces a whole new map with new challenges, enemies, night bosses, and special events.
They have added a lot more content from former games in the series Dark Souls. Such as Artorias and the Demon Prince which are fan favorites.

One of the new Nightfarers, the Undertaker is a highly versatile strength/faith based hammer wielding damage dealer. She can use both large weapons and incantations on the battlefield, making her effective in many situations. Her Ability gives her enhanced evasive maneuvers and her ultimate ability is a large unmissable strike that she can chain off of teammates ultimate abilities, personally she is one of my favorite characters to play.

The second new nightfarer is the scholar, he's a fast support character with great arcane which means he can add status effects fast and add buffs for his team efficiently. He uses thrusting swords and has a unique passive to level up items for him and his team. His ability is to study the enemy and mark them for more damage and he can parry with it, while his ultimate can bind you and all surrounding enemies together for shared damage and healing.
The new DLC also introduces invasions from former nightlords fought throughout the game, adding new challenges and variety to the expeditions in game.
New night bosses, there are 2 nights with a difficult boss spawning at the end of both and it got boring fighting the same 15 so they added a few more. Such as bosses from the Elden Ring base game DLC and the Dark Souls games.

These are the main new night bosses/field bosses, including Artorias from Dark Souls 1, demon prince from Dark Souls 3, Divine beast dancing lion and warrior from base Elden Rings DLC. More include Mohg from base Elden Ring, and a variety of other base game DLC enemies.
Some of these bosses are locked behind beating the new nightlords, which is sad because some people (like me) can’t beat them.
There were some new buildings added in the new DLC but the question a lot of people have been asking: “where are the poison swamps?” and Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki stated: “I think the main reason is that this is not a Miyazaki title so that could be one explanation.”

The new map introduced a whole different way of exploration and progression. Things aren't simply marked on the map, You have to go a certain route every time and there's 2 layers of the map. Though it's a whole new map it's still just a shifting earth which is usually an event that adds 1 large point of interest on the base map.
It's very unique in design and its gimmicks but it takes a lot of experience to know how to traverse which is why I don't like it.

One of the new nightlords, the Balancers, 7 holy based polearm wielding fast hitting enemies. After all 7 are killed one rises again and they instigate many AOE (area of effect) attacks and one of them is enhanced.
This boss might be one of the most insufferable, aggravating, and annoyingly designed bosses ever in my opinion. But at the end of the day it's still a skill issue.

The Dreglord is the final boss of the game, it's insanely tanky, hard hitting, and cinematic. It has 2 health bars and its second phase is filled with a plethora of AOE (area of effect) attacks.
It is one of the most favored bosses in the game, it’s also considered the hardest Nightlord as well.
Honestly I think this new DLC is the most difficult experience I’ve had in gaming and is an insane jump in difficulty from the base Nightreign. The map is also a lot more fun traversing-wise, but night-boss-wise, it's repetitive due to repeating the same five.
Even after all the negative stuff I've said this DLC is actually really well made and it's very unique in its character and boss design. I think it's worth buying if you're trying to give yourself a challenge or just have fun with friends.
