The Generational and Technological Change Throughout Time

While many generations pass each generation grows differently, and the newest generations tend to have a deep control with the world. The most recent generations make an impact in the world with social media. These days everything is about social media and when children get these phones or like social media platforms downloaded everything that anyone says or posts can change a perspective to these children and they change, they figure out different and newer interests or feel different ways about certain things, they seem to want to grow up faster by acting as if they could do more adult things. The newest generation which is now becoming Generation Beta will have a big intake on this world I am certain.

Back in the 90s kids grew up so much differently then how they do now. Coming across  someone that grew up in the 90s they will most likely bring up or quote shows they'd watch when they were younger like rugrats, The Powerpuff girls, Beavis and Butthead or they'd use that line that goes “Back in my day” and talk about how they were so much better and not always cooped up inside on their technologies. Before when they had no technology they'd use their imaginations while playing outside until the street lights would turn on and their parents wouldn't have a care in the world. Now when children play outside they are usually supervised or have a curfew, which most likely would not go past 10 because of how different this world has changed and has become more dangerous. Although now kids don't even want to go outside they'd rather be cooped up in their room all day playing video games, watching tv or doom-scrolling (wasting time on your phone).

In this article, Marina Moreno, Dallas babysitter and parent said: "Children these days only want to be glued to their phone, If it's not Youtube, it's video games.” which proves my point its like since technologies came out children don't have that adventurist, creative mindset anymore, they don't want to explore and or discover new things with their friends in their home town. There is a low percentage of children that grow up like, Stand By Me, The Goonies, or like The Sandlot.

I feel as if I see the resemblance with kids these days and how they are so captivated by their phones and technology than how kids were in later generations. My almost thirteen year old brother had gotten his phone when he turned eleven and as soon as he had gotten his phone he had gotten the main social media platforms like Snapchat and TikTok on TikTok he almost immediately started saying the audios out loud and obviously memorizing them, thinking there funny and getting onto the trends. He changed a lot throughout time. His word choices have become so vulgar and he doesn't have much respect towards my sister and I, he also does not listen much.

I feel that it's not only his phone but the people he hangs out with, although the only reason why the people he hangs out with are the same way is because they all got phones at young ages. I believe that giving these children technologies at young ages can change their growth patterns. They stop caring for things that they used to have passions about and try to change themselves to seem cool and as they call it “stay on the trend.” I personally wish that change had not differed from how it had been in the past. The rules and way people acted with each other definitely should've but the newer things people create and sell to this world makes a drastic impact on how people grow.
