The first heavy metal band that started this genre and what caused it to skyrocket was Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath invented heavy metal music in the late 1960,s. They played hard rock music based on blues music. Heavy Metal mostly uses the sounds of an electric guitar. Tony Lommi really drove heavy metal into a whole new area. Hard rock was a genre that helped invent heavy metal.
There are many different types of metal rock. Like Death Metal, Power Metal, Doom Metal, Glam Metal, Thrash Metal, Symphonic Metal, Black Metal, First wave black metal, GrindCore, Nu Metal, Extreme Metal, Gothic Metal, Industrial Metal, and Progressive Metal...and possibly many more.
In the late 1980's and early 1990's, death metal gained more media attention as a popular genre. With bands like Possessed, Death, Necrophagia, Obituary, Autopsy, and Morbid Angel making the Death Metal genre more popular. Almost similar to the Doom Metal Genre.
And again Black Sabbath made Doom Metal from its own creativity. Doom Metal bands like Evoken, Pentagram, Trouble, Saint Vitus, and Ocean Of Grief, which is one of the most recent doom metal bands. Made this genre more popular and more interesting.
Ocean Of Grief is a melodic doom metal band that uses their musical talent to make their music more sorrowful, depressing, and lonely. For ambient and beautiful based sounds.
Almost like Sleep Token and with that band they use more ambient sounds. Like with their song Atlantic. In that song it uses piano with emotional based singing. Then later into the song it goes more heavy metal to bring more emotion and ambiance. Sleep Token is a Rock, Progressive Metal, and Alternative/Indie genre of band.
They put a lot of emotion into their songs along with emotional instruments. Sleep Token along with Bad Omens are both a part of Metal’s new pop era. Bad Omens is an American Heavy Metal band. They range from Nu Metal to Alternative Metal. Like Bring Me The Horizon. With their music they make more alternative metal music.
Like many other bands that make alternative metal music like. System Of A Down, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Breaking Benjamin, Skillet, Dir En Grey, Five Finger Death Punch, Motionless In White, and many more.
The new and or most recent genre of metal is Nu Metal. And bands that create Nu Metal music are Drowning Pool, Godsmack, Papa Roach, and Metallica. Most of these bands make really good music which makes them really popular. With bands like these it can make one wonder what other bands will appear from their songs.
Progressive Metal also has bands like Symphony X, Haken, Sleep Token, and Opeth.
And with Symphonic Metal they have bands like Fleshgod Apocalypse, ReVamp, and Apocalyptica.
And Black Metal bands have Mayhem, Darkthrone, and Emperor.
Power Metal has bands like Sabaton, PowerWolf, and the most recent Power Metal is Gamma Ray. Thrash Metal has cool bands like Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Lamb Of God, and Lost Society. And with bands like these is what brings the Metal genre alive and popular. And may create more amazing bands along the way.
