Keep up your eating/drinking habits and you won't live past 30

Written by Bryton Caviness

As I look around on my daily strolls through life--whether at school, a store, or some sort of public place--I can't help but notice the absolutely atrocious habits of the people around me.

It seems that they are completely clueless about their actions and don't know the consequences. If they keep some of these types of habits up they surely shall not see 30-years-old! The fact that they don't know this is scary.

The culprit at hand for at least one of the sugary drink epidemic, Monster

At brunch I noticed an unhealthy amount of people were drinking a seemingly harmless liquid,  a liquid marketed as a sports hydration drink. Gatorade should be good for you right? WRONG!

The amount of people I've seen willingly consuming toxic artificial coloring such as Yellow 5, Blue 1,  and even Red 40 (which is banned in Norway, Finland, France, the UK, and countless other European countries) is sad.

According to https://health.clevelandclinic.org/red-dye-40 "Currently, the U.S. doesn’t ban any artificial food dyes. But some countries say there’s enough evidence to justify banning them."

The fact that the FDA doesn't ban this toxic chemical from our food supply is crazy. Especially when so many things that are less bad are banned. Since its not banned many people think nothing of it which is sad.

Same thing with the number of people consuming processed foods with refined sugars and seed oils--or even more Red 40 with Takis and Cheetos.  They have absolutely no idea that their diet of processed garbage is going to inevitably lead to health problems and chronic illnesses and their ultimate downfall.

These terrible habits I see being portrayed are bringing those stereotypical death stats to life. With every bite of processed food, hit of a vape, drink of a toxic concoction, or lack of physical exercise there bringing themselves to an early grave and it really isn't looking good.

When interviewed about his habits, senior student Dylan Pound admitted, “I eat the school brunch, then I drink this red bull energy drink and have some school lunch. When I get home, if I'm hungry I'll have some chips or something.” This diet isn't the diet a healthy growing developing young boy should eat.

The processed food, the chemicals in the drink, and lack of nutrients are a breeding ground for autoimmune disorders. The lack of protein and good fats makes this a good way to gain fat and lose muscle mass.

All in all if you want to live a long healthy happy life full of adventures and feel good everyday then all you should do is avoid doing what everybody else around you is doing, cut the processed food, avoid the non natural drinks, and just eat a balanced whole food diet with plenty of fat, protein, and carbs and just exercise every once and awhile and hopefully you’ll live past 30.
