Lately, singer/songwriter Melanie Martinez has announced that she’ll be taking a break from tours and releasing music as she works on other projects and music videos to able to relax out of the public eye for what's estimated as a four year break.
This is something that has previously been seen in her career of taking breaks for projects and coming back with music and art. Just like every other time, fans are divided on how they feel about her going back on break, especially after her new album which re-branded her image and attracted many new fans.
Many are conflicted, with the majority who are very supportive of her decision and dedication, while others believe that it is far too long and she’ll “ruin” her career that just kick started again.
But before that, she has recently announced that she plans on having one more tour in the UK and European area. Called the “Trilogy tour”, she will be singing live songs from all three off her previous albums. The first of these shows will be in 3Arena, Dublin which will start off her grand tour heading all around the UK first and heading off to the rest of Europe.
Student Vianey Campos, a peer who listens to Melanie regularly, said, "I liked the K-12 album a lot more than her newer stuff like ‘Portals’ and stuff, but I'm excited to go see her on tour later this year because it’s supposedly her last tour and that’s pretty fun.”
As a regular listener, she is very excited to hear more of her music and also can’t wait to hear her older albums as well. However, just like many fans also were put off by the sudden re-brand last year, Vianey also was taken aback by the change in style, ”I don’t know, I still listen to her old music sometimes because honestly, I don’t like ‘Portals’ (her latest album) much, I miss Crybaby.”
Overall, this upcoming tour finishing off the year before she goes on hiatus for awhile is very exciting and many fans from over the year are excited especially because this tour is featuring many songs from all her albums.
