“Pubie!” - Hubie Halloween Movie Review

How does one turn a movie with famous actors into a fun, comedic, and horror-like film? No idea! But Hubie Halloween makes it happen. Hubie Halloween is a Netflix original comedic horror movie that stars actors like Adam Sandler, Noah Schnapp, and Karan Brar. Many more of your favorite childhood actors and actresses that you may know of are also in this film!

Hubert “Hubie” Dubois (Adam Sandler) is an adult man who lives with his mom. He’s a kind-hearted person despite how defenseless he is. Even little kids try to mess with him. The movie takes place on October 31st in Salem, Massachusetts. Halloween Day. And Hubie is excited, he loves Halloween but not all that hyped for the pranks people pull on him. Hubie ends up finding himself in a real murder investigation. Involving someone he just met.

Hubie has a love interest throughout the movie, someone who he’s known since they were kids. And she’s the complete opposite of him. Violet Valentine (Julie Bowen), she’s popular, pretty, and kind. She won all of the awards in school for being the most popular, most friendly, and best looking. She even feels the same way about Hubie. 

One of my favorite parts about the movie is that Hubie is always carrying a thermos with him. It can be used for many things. He can turn it into an umbrella, flashlight, grappling hook, screwdriver, and use it as a soup compartment. I think it’s hilarious and fits his character so well. I kind of wish I had something like that. 

Once again, this movie is both comedic and horror-like. I think it's a great combination of genres. I give this movie a 5 out of 5. It’s fun, it has horror elements, and has many actors from our childhoods that make this movie great.
