Eight years. Fans of Asap Rocky have waited eight long years for his new album to finally release. Back in 2018 fans were treated to his latest album Testing, which contained hits such as Praise The Lord. After a few years in 2022 he announced his next studio album, Don't Be Dumb. Although, the album was teased back in 2021 under different concept ideas. The name was then confirmed to be Don't Be Dumb in December 2022. However, just because the album was announced back in 2022, that doesn't mean that it would come out soon.
In 2024, Asap Rocky released a single by the name of Taylor Swif, which was intended to become the lead single for Don't be Dumb. However, Asap Rocky once again, delayed the album. Over a year later, the actual lead single for Don't be Dumb would be released. The single Punk Rocky was released on January 5th, 2026, and was meant to showcase the unique side of the upcoming album. Even with this release fans were still skeptical about the album actually coming out soon. That was until the second single for the album released on January 12, 2026. The single "Helicopter" was able to not only raise his fans' hopes for the album, but it also showcased how there will still be more traditional rap songs on this album.

Fans overall enjoy Don't be Dumb, however lots of people are still disappointed with the album due to it not being worth the wait in their eyes. When interviewing local MHS student William Hoskins, he stated, “I really liked the Album, but I really wish he would have released more throughout his 8 year break. During the 8 year break I was just thinking ‘Oh Mr. Rocky, why did you have to leave us? Return to us and grace us with your musical genius once more.’ and grace us with his musical genius he did.”
Overall, even with all the delays, and the years of waiting. I feel that Don't be dumb is a great addition to his discography and with time will age very well. Do I believe that it is Asap Rocky's best work ever, absolutely not. However is it his worst, not at all. It is a good album that was well received and definitely helped Asap Rocky’s career grow even further. Now the only question left on mine, and many other fans' minds is when will he drop his next album?
