Trump Phone Finally Here. Was it worth it?
After some significant backlash, the Trump Organization has stated that the “Trump Phone” will be going out in the coming weeks. The Trump phone, which was unveiled in 2025, was marketed as being “shaped by American innovation" and being made in the U.S. Specialty plans were also unveiled last year, being dubbed the “47” plan to reference Trump being the 47th president. The plan was to cost $47 a month and would “revolutionize cell phones and mobile calling," as said by Eric Trump.
The main controversy surrounding the phone was the original deposit needed to secure a spot in receiving the phone. This deposit was $100, but within the fine print it stated that “A pre-order deposit provides only a conditional opportunity if Trump Mobile later elects, in its sole discretion, to offer the Device for sale,” basically saying that the phone may never be made, and the deposit was just for the idea of a phone.
But recently, people have actually been receiving the phones, confirming their existence. The deposit data also caused backlash, due to a leak on the Trump Mobile website, which revealed how many people ordered the phone, which was only around 30,000, far less than the initial report of over 600,000 as well as the people’s names, email addresses, mailing addresses, order identifiers and mobile phone numbers.
The phone is fully gold and runs on a stock Android system. One major error is the stripes on the U.S flag, which there are only 11 of the 13 there should be. There are, however, 50 stars on the flag, so reasoning behind there being only 11 stripes is unknown. The phone also just says “Made Proudly in the U.S” so I guess we just have to trust their word when they say that.
Reviewers from CNET news who have received the phone have also praised the battery life and camera quality, but quite outdated, with Patrick Holland from CNET saying “When I used the Trump phone, it was fine for everyday tasks like scrolling news feeds, loading webpages and playing YouTube videos. It's worth keeping in mind that most new phones have powerful processors as a hedge to make sure they can still perform well with the latest OS and apps five to seven years from now. So whatever processor is in the T1 phone will likely not be powerful enough to keep up with newer software in the coming years.”
Overall it doesn’t seem like the worst phone in the world, just a very basic one which was made as some kind of cash grab.
