The Chicago Bears:
The Bears had a crazy off-season. They cut ties with Justin Fields, traded for Keenen Allen and D'andre Swift, drafted Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze in the first round. A lot of Bears fans think that they should have kept Justin Fields and drafted a wide receiver with the #1 pick or traded the #1 pick. Still, some Bears fans are happy with the outcome. Bears coach Ryan Poles says that “Trading Justin field was one of the harder things I've had to do.”
The Bears made some of the biggest off-season moves but so did the rest of the league. Here are some of the major skill players that got drafted/traded.
Running Backs for the 2024-2025 Season:
Blake Corum was one of the most consistent and productive running backs in college. He went to Michigan all four years in college and in his career rushed for 3737 yards and 58 touchdowns. This year, he got drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 3rd round with the 83rd pick.
Jonathan Brooks is a very fast running back who went to Texas for three years; and in that time, ran for 1479 and 18 touchdowns. In the 2nd round of the draft, he got drafted to the Panthers despite having his ACL torn last November.
Derrick Henry has just recently been signed by the Baltimore Ravens after 8 seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He had 9052 yards and 90 touchdowns. Every linebacker in the league felt a shiver go down their spine when Derrick Henry signed with the Ravens to play with Lamar Jackson.
Wide Receivers for the 2024-2025 Season:
Marvin Harrison Jr, the most explosive player in college football just got drafted into the NFL. He got drafted with the 4th pick in the 1st round by the Arizona Cardinals. He went to college for 3 years and all 3 years he went to Ohio State where he had 2613 yards receiving and 31 touchdowns.
Malik Nabers was drafted by the New York Giants in the 1st round with the 6th pick in this year's draft. After he was drafted, the Giants decided to unretire the first retired number in NFL history for Malik Nabers to wear: Number 1. The number was worn by Ray Flaherty 89 years ago.
Quarterbacks for the 2024-2025 Season:
Bo Nix was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the 12th pick of the 1st round. Since over the off-season they traded Russel Wilson, he is the true starter for the Denver Broncos. Bo Nix was known as a dual threat quarterback (meaning he can throw and run the ball) in college. He played for two teams in college football. For Auburn, for three years and threw for 7250 yards and 39 touchdowns. For Oregon, he played for two years and threw for 8101 years and 74 touchdowns.
Tight Ends for the 2024-2025 season:
Brock Bowers was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the 13th overall pick in the 1st round.
He became the first person in history to win the John Mackey Award 2 years in a row, which is only given to the nation's top tight end. He went to Georgia for the three years (college) and he had 2538 yards with 26 touchdowns.
