The NBA power rankings after Week 5.

Written by Anthony Mendoza

Edited by Donovan Clark

The NBA basketball season just started. I want to talk about the week 5 Power Rankings and talk of how good each team is doing this season. We are going to be talking about the top 3 teams.

Week 5 Power Rankings

#1: Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers season started 15-0 being the 6th team in NBA history to be undefeated. Also in the last  game against the 76ers  they beat them  114  to  106. With their point guard Darius Garland scoring 20 points that game with 2 rebounds 6.5 ast, and shooting 53.4 percent that game making them undefeated.

Another thing is that they got a new coach Kenny Atkinson--he coached the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, and the New York Knicks and he is a huge part in helping the Cleveland Cavaliers being 15-0 and having the #1 offense in the league.  Kenny Atkinson says this about being undefeated:

"I know our guys are anxious, but I know they remember last year," said Atkinson, pointing to when the Celtics eliminated the Cavs in the previous playoffs in the Eastern Conference semifinal...We're going well, they're going well, Boston Garden, what's better than that? This is just great for the league, great for our franchise. We're excited about it."

#2: Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors week 5 into the season are 10-3. The Golden State Warriors lost their last game to the LA Clippers by 3 the score was 99-102.  The Warriors lost their second string center Kevon Looney to a hip injury in the gym. The Warriors also just lost their head coach Kenny Atkinson who, if you remember from earlier, went to the Cleveland cavaliers. However, they received a new coach in Steve Kerr, an old Nba star.

#3: Oklahoma City Thunder

The OKC Thunder are one of the best teams in the league with their star player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being second in the running for MVP this year, leading them to a 8-2 record. Unfortunately, Chet Holmgren (their center) is out with a hip injury which hurts them a lot. In their last game they lost to the Dallas Mavericks 121-119, Luka Doncic did not play in that game vs OKC. Shai had 36 points, 8 assists and 2 rebounds against the Mavericks. They are a great team and I think they will keep winning more and more games.
