I have been a fan of Adam Silvera since December of 2023 when I bought my first book from him, “They Both Die at the End”. I found it through a YouTuber who said that she had been reading it. She explained what it was about and I was deeply interested so I went to the library to look for this bittersweet book.
I finished it within a few days, and it had me in shock with each section and chapter that I read. I have never read a book like this, and it was nothing like I thought it would be like. I had no idea a book could cause me to feel so much emotion and fill me with hundreds of questions.
Assuming the title, you’d think it's pretty straightforward and that it kind of spoils the ending, but this book is way more than just what the title says.
If you’re a reader who likes reading long chapter books like me, I urge you to go buy this book or find it at your local library! The other books in this series are even more thrilling!

Adam Silvera is a New York Times bestselling author who's written the successful “Death-Cast” series with the fourth book in the making. He’s constantly updating all about what's next for this series on his instagram. He's very interactive with his readers and highly appreciates the fanart of his characters! He’s also known for his other series; “The Infinity Cycle” with three equally long books. Silvera has worked with author Becky Albertalli in making the books “What If It’s Us” and “Here’s To Us”. Silvera is an openly gay author who has LGBTQ+ characters in all of his books.
On his Instagram he’s been very open about talking about his mental health and the struggles he faces. Silvera is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, OCD, and has struggled with suicide. But none of that has stopped him from continuing to write his books.
Silvera is also very inclusive in his novels and incorporates his own character with some of the struggles he’s faced before, like BPD and suicide which his newest character, Paz Dario, who also struggles with.
The Death-Cast series has been successful with many people posting reviews and fanart about it online! These books are all about love, acceptance, and living life to the fullest. I've learned so much from reading these books, and they've really helped me to see the world in a different way.
What is Death-Cast?
Death-Cast is an organization in this fictional series that's been active since 2010, run by Joaquin Rosa, someone whom we will be talking about later on and who we are introduced to in the third book.
People who work for Death-Cast are called “heralds” and call people from 12am-3am every day, informing them about their untimely death.
These people are referred to as “deckers” and they have less than 24 hours to live. They could die within the next minute after the call, or 10 hours later. No one knows how or what time they'll die, not even Death-Cast.
But what happens if you want to call Death-Cast? This is a question that's brought up in Adam Silvera's 10th novel and third book to his Death-Cast series, “The Survivor Wants to Die at the End”. In this book, we meet the characters Paz Dario and Alano Rosa, both of whom live very different but similar lives. Paz waits every night for Death-Cast to call.
His life has been nothing but endless hate since an incident that occurred when he was a child. Which happens in the second book. He's been called a monster and villainized, at just 9 years old. Now he's 19 and feels there is nothing left for him. Paz is so much more than what happened in his past.
Alano Rosa, son of Joaquin Rosa and Heir to the Death-Cast Empire. He doesn't feel much control of his own life due to his father being overprotective. Everywhere Alano goes, even just outside of Death-Cast Headquarters, his bodyguard, Agent Dane, is always there. Even with all the death threats from an organization called “Death Guard”, Alano still tries to live his best life while also encouraging others to do the same.
Fate brings Paz and Alano together on a dark night. They become closer and closer as the days go. They decided that they'll start living their “Begin Days” together.
Begin Days are Paz and Alano’s chance at a new start. No matter what happens, they'll keep going and going. Living their lives to the fullest. Making each day count.
Throughout the book, Paz and Alano face some hardships. But that doesn't stop them from being with each other. We learn a lot about these characters in each of their chapters.
Adam Silvera truly understands his readers. On May 6th 2025 Silvera posted on Instagram a picture of himself and the books, showcasing his third book with the caption reading, “Paz And Alano finally step into the world today, changing the universe of THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END forever. I hope their epic love story gets you reflecting, laughing, and yes, crying, but most importantly–just like the other TBDATE novels–I hope you're inspired to live, even when it's hard. 💙💙”
I can tell you right now that his words are true. Adam Silvera has helped me to see life in a different way with so much potential. These books are such an eye opener for me and I hope that if you are really interested in this that you take the time to look into the books and see if they’re the right fit for you!
