What we know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day (for now)

Updated: 1 day ago

As the days dwindle down, and time slowly crawls towards July 31, 2026, the excitement for Spider-Man: Brand New Day only rises. This past month, the public has been receiving updates for Tom Holland’s newest installment in the Spider-Man movie universe, from suit reveals, to Instagram updates, and even actor confirmation! There’s still almost a year until the film hits theaters, but what’s the harm in taking a look at what we know about it so far?

The Suit

On August 2, 2025, the official YouTube channel “Marvel Entertainment” posted a 22 second video that showed Tom Holland in a spiffy new suit! Some say it was to attract attention to the film starting production, and others say it was to beat the crowds who were sure to leak the new look as soon as filming started (and prevent Tom Holland from spoiling it himself!). While it differs from Holland’s previous suits, it seems perfect for this film and was extremely well received by fans.

Day One

The team for Spider-Man: Brand New Day started filming earlier this month, on August 1, 2025, and although our beloved webslinger is set to be in New York, it is actually being filmed in Glasgow, Scotland. 10 days into production, the YouTube channel “Sony Pictures Entertainment” posted a video titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day - Day One on Set,” which showcased our main actor suited up, sharing his thoughts about his fourth “day one” on set.

It was sweet, it was cool, and it was heartwarming to see the crowds of fans gathered to witness the beginning of something with such high expectations. “You know, it's funny putting the suit on,” Holland stated in the video. “It feels different this time, somehow.” The video was praised by fanatics, and brought some heavy attention to the upcoming movie, even with it being almost a year from opening day!

The Rumors…and the Facts!

Obviously no movie is without some speculation about elements of the film such as actor features, plot, and character arcs. Brand New Day is no different, with many rumors catching people’s attention. So, here are the many points of speculation that are either still being observed, have been disproved, or confirmed as true!

Sadie Sink - Around mid March of this year, the Stranger Things star Sadie Sink was confirmed to be acting in the film. There are many rumors as to what role she will take on, but none so far have been authenticated. Some of the suspected roles include Jean Grey from the X-Men franchise, Gwen Stacy, and even a variant of the common Spider-Man character, Harry Osborn.

Jackie Chan?! - Just about a week ago, a news article was published by HK01, where Chan comments that "I went to London for a meeting and visited the set. My Jackie Chan Stunt Team was busy filming Spider-Man, and I was the action director for the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.” his legendary stunt team will be directing the battle choreography, which has certainly never been seen before.

The stunt team also worked on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings, whose fight scenes were obsessed over by fans. After word spread about the stunt team, there were rumors that Chan could potentially appear as Mr. Negative, but that was shut down. That doesn’t mean we can’t dream!

Friends and Foes - Approximately 1 month ago, actor Micheal Mando posted on Instagram a photo of him with effects makeup and the hashtag “Spider-ManBrandNewDay”. Mando had made an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Scorpion, but has since never made an appearance in the MCU movies. The post definitely stirred some emotions and gained some excitement, but that’s not all!

Around the same time, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Jon Bernthal's Punisher were also confirmed to make major appearances in Brand New Day. Once again, the plot itself and what exact purpose they’ll serve is not exactly confirmed, but theories have been spread like wildfire, circulating in the Marvel community and building anticipation that has not been seen since No Way Home.

Whoo! So little information, yet so much! As of September 2, 2025, there is still 331 days until the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but that means there’s still so much time to get excited for it! (and maybe make a costume!)
