Yes, teachers. We all know them, and they keep the school running. They make the foundation of a school. Some teachers, however, choose to go above and beyond for their students. From hosting clubs, to coaching teams, these high achievers give their best towards us. My interviewee, Mrs. Schneider is no different.
Mrs. Schneider looking fabulous!
Her domain is Room 20 on the MHS campus, where she teaches sophomore year English, coaches the Mock Trial team, and hosts the book club and D&D club on Tuesdays (alternating each week). Taking on these responsibilities, she somehow manages to keep with it all. After an interview with the sophomore English teacher, her story is expanded on, hopefully creating more respect for this inspiring teacher.
This teacher’s story starts, not as a teacher, but as a mother. Her oldest son had less than joyous experiences with a teacher. “After that experience, I was like, I can do that,” she explained.
Afterwards, she began to teach at a private school located in Arizona while working on her teaching credentials (as teaching credentials are not strictly required to retain this position). Time passed, and Mrs. Schneider, new to the teaching scene, had moved to Colorado and taught there, then finally back to California to teach. Eventually, she came to Middletown and has stayed here ever since.

When asked about her experience here at MHS, Schneider, she says, “There’s some really good things about Middletown High that I have enjoyed.” She also says that it was an adjustment from the other schools that she’s taught at, and expresses that she wants the community members to present more education opportunities for students.
As said earlier, Mrs. Schneider is also the coach for this school’s Mock Trial team, in which a class of students study a law case and reenact it in a replicated court of law. 2024 will be her fourth year of coaching the team, and under the assistance of Janina Hoskins, has successfully maintained their wonderful streak of county champion 11 years in a row (with the exception of the shutdown year).
Currently, Mrs. Schneider is attending the National University for another masters program! Her endeavors as an educator are also reflected through her beliefs. “My students inspire me,” she says when asked about what inspires her. “I learn something new every day,” Schneider adds.
Alongside her positivity towards her students, she sets simple and achievable expectations. “I just want you to do your best, try. Give it a shot, you might not like it at first but you might find something really interesting,” Schneider encourages.
All this to say what an accomplished teacher Mrs. Schneider is. Her teaching style is missed by many who move on from her class, and some keep a deep fondness for it. Anyone can educate, but it takes a strong person to teach. Mrs. Schneider is an excellent example of balance between the two.
