Techland’s game Dying Light 2, released back in 2022, has been a rollercoaster since launch, but will a new standalone game boost Techland’s sales of Dying Light 2?
When most people think of zombie games, Dying Light is always one of the games they think of. With its parkour, combat, and large open map it’s no wonder their two games have done well.
Dying Light 2 is a console and PC parkour combat game within a zombie apocalypse. It has things like an entirely open world with things to help you explore it such as, paragliders, grappling hooks, and many others to help you traverse scattered around the map.
It’s done quite well sales-wise, selling over 30 million copies worldwide of both Dying Light 1 & 2. Though their newest implementation, Dying Light 2, has had many ups and downs, for the most part the game is great to play with, as Techland is still adding in new exciting things within every new update to their game. And a new standalone game may just bring the game sales up to new heights due to its key character who everyone knows from the first Dying Light.
Dying Light: The Beast
Dying Light: The Beast will follow an old character in a new place. Originally an expansion DLC for Dying Light 2, now a 20-hour long new story follows the Dying Light 1 main character Kyle Crane in a new location called Castor Woods having just escaped captivity and experiment, out for revenge and hunting down your captors.
“Dying Light: The Beast is a thrilling standalone zombie adventure set in a tightly-crafted rural region. Play as Kyle Crane, a legendary hero who breaks free after years of brutal experiments. Now, he must realize there’s more at stake than just revenge.” (Dying Light Steam Info)
The Beast will have an entirely new region for us to explore in this 20 hour standalone game.
The new game is one of their best ideas yet, adding in their character from the first game, who had many unanswered questions, most importantly what happened after he got out of Harran, the city where the first game took place.
Along with that, the new location called Castor Woods to explore with the game supposedly being 20 hours long and including several different biomes, new weapons, additional skills, better graphics and revamped mechanics. They’re also going to be adding a new “Beast Mode” which seems to almost be like Dead Island 2’s “Fury”, which gives you a short burst of upgraded damage, movement and speed, which gets fueled up over time.
Dying Light: The Beast puts us in the shoes of Kyle Crane once more, 13 years after the events of the first game and 2 years before the events of Dying Light 2.
So, how will this game increase dying light 2 sales?
As of right now, Dying Light: The Beast has no set release date. It’s also been unclear how much it will cost, but they have stated that it’s going to be free with Dying Light 2’s Ultimate edition, and you’re able to wish list on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games store.
